Qi
Qi is the universal representation of energy, and is the life force flowing through our bodies that sustains us, balancing our bodies and connecting us with our environment. A disruption to our Qi might lead to a myriad of emotional and physical problems.
When Qi does not flow properly in the body, it can result in blockages that cause poor blood circulation, tension and soreness. As more toxins accumulate, it can eventually lead to illness. Tui Na helps to release the excesses of energy and free the flow of Qi, which relieves tight areas and tension in the body.
Yin and Yang
Originating from Taoist philosophy, Yin and Yang in TCM are manifestations of Qi, and are relatively opposite from each other. They are in constant flux with each other, wherein an imbalance of the two can result in bodily ailments. These imbalances can be categorised as: Excess of Yin, Excess of Yang, Deficiency of Yin, Deficiency of Yang.
Meridians
Meridians are the 12 major channels of the body in which Qi flows through. Tui Na manipulates Qi and balances Yin and Yang by applying pressure onto specific acupoints in our body which correspond to our 12 major meridians.
The benefits of Tui Na include:
- Enhancing the immune system
- Relieves pain and aches
- Reduces stress and tension in the body
- Enhances blood circulation
- Stimulates the body’s natural healing functions
Prior to the session start, the TCM physician will first obtain a detailed understanding of your condition during consultation.
The Tui Na session is between 30 to 60 minutes long, and will be carried out sitting up on a chair or lying down on a massage table. Therapeutic oil is sometimes used. The number of sessions varies depending on your requirements.
